Formation of Federal Bank Retired Officers’ Forum (FBOF) and the Historic Background
A Hearty Welcome to our Website. Federal Bank Retired Officers’ Forum (FBROF) is an organization of Retired Officers of Federal Bank.
Birth of our organisation 20 years back
Excerpts from the Report presented by Sri P V Mathew, General Secretary of FBOA to the 21st National Conference of Federal Bank Officers’ Association held at Ernakulam on 29th October 1995.
Federal Bank Retired Officers’ Forum
“ 40. I am really glad to report to this august Conference about the birth of a new organisational wing of FBOA- Federal Bank Retired Officers’ Forum (FBROF) – to cater to the needs of our retired colleagues. The Foundation Conference of the Forum was held at FBOA Centre on 11th June, 1994. The Conference unanimously elected Sri K M Abraham as Chairman, Sri P George Samuel as Secretary and Sri C O Thomas as Treasurer.”
Federal Bank Retired Officers’ Forum (FBROF) was formed in the year 1994 with a small number of retired officers of our Bank. This was at the initiative of Federal Bank Officers’ Association (FBOA) with Sri. P V Mathew as General Secretary at that time. Now, the Forum has grown to a large organization with membership of nearly 1000 and Zonal / Area Committees throughout the country on the model of the Zonal set – up of the Bank and FBOA.
A National Organisation for the retirees and pensioners in the Banking sector called All India Pensioners and Retirees Confederation (AIBPARC) was formed at New Delhi on 25th November 2012 at the initiative of AIBOC for highlighting and redressing of our common issues before IBA and the Govt of India. Our Forum is affiliated to the Confederation.
Our Bank has initiated a medical insurance scheme for the retirees called “Fedcare” during 2012. We are greatly indebted to FBOA and its leaders at that time for this major achievement. The scheme is clear manifestation of the special interest of the Bank in the welfare of its staff. Sri Shyam Sreenivasan present M.D &CEO of the Bank deserves special appreciation for his great initiative in this regard.
Our major issues are updation of pension, improvement in Family Pension, 100% neutralization of DA in B.P. to the retirees period to Nov, 2002 etc. For achieving these goals we have to stand united under the banner of FBROF and AIBPARC with firm determination.
A major issue pending with Federal Bank is payment of balance of Provident Fund contribution to our members. We have already got impleaded alongwith FBOA in the case filed by the Bank before the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala against the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner. As the case is pending before the court for more than 23 years and a solution through court in the foreseeable future is remote, we are making all possible efforts to get back the money by all means.
The retirees in the Banking Industry today are the architects of today’s Modern and well acclaimed Indian Banking. Their sweat and blood and integrity and the identification with the Institution is in the root of the growth of Banking in India in general and Federal Bank in particular. The Federal Family concept and the sound banking principles imbibed from the Founder of our Bank Late K P Hormis is the guiding light in our path. Federal Bank Officers’ Association (FBOA), the only Officers’ Organisation in the Bank is the symbol of unity, strength and vibrancy of the Bank and FBROF is an Organisational wing of FBOA which is affiliated to All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC).
